39 fresh cases of swine flu in Telangana

Hyderabad, Feb 12 (PTI) Thirty nine fresh cases of swine flu have been reported in Telangana which recorded 42 deaths since January one this year, a bulletin issued by the state government said here today.

"In the current year, from January 1 till February 11, 2,885 samples have been tested out of which 946 have been found to be positive. The number of deaths because of swine flu and related complications are 42," the bulletin said.

First symptoms of Swine Flu: High fever, sneezing, cough and body pain

Hyderabad, Feb 10: Telangana continues to reel under the menace of swine flu with 49 fresh cases being reported, a bulletin issued here today said. ‘In the current year, from January 1 till February 9, 2,677 samples have been tested, out of which, 880 were found to be positive and the number of deaths because of other complications and swine flu are 42. On February 9th, 135 samples were tested. Out of that 49 are found positive,’ the bulletin said.

There is a decline in intensity in the number of positive cases reported in the last six days (up to February 9). ‘The figures are 32, 20, 30, 30, 33 and 49,’ it said. However, the citizens are advised to take precautions and report to a hospital on appearance of the first symptoms of the disease like high fever, sneezing, cough and body pain, it said. 

Sufficient stock of medicines is available at all teaching hospitals, district hospitals and area hospitals, the bulletin said, adding, there are enough testing kits and kits for Viral Transport Medium (VTM). Homoeopathy doctors have advised that homeo medicine can also be taken as a preventive measure. Medicines are available free of cost at Government Homeo Hospital, Ramanthapur in the city and all AYUSH dispensaries.

Five doctors infected with swine flu in Hyderabad

Doctors are said to have one of the most dangerous of professions specially when they deal with contagious diseases and latest report from Hyderabad is a proof of that. As many as five doctors in the city have been tested positive for swine flu.

According to reports from officials from health ministry on Monday, 52 positive cases have been registered in Telangana out of which five are doctors. This takes the tally to a whopping 366 for January 2015 in Telangana alone.

On Tuesday a Swine Flu patient identified as Poola Shailaja from Ranga Reddy district died with flu symptoms at the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad. She died early morning on Tuesday. With this death, the number of those who succumbed has climbed to 23 in Telangana. 

A 44-year old group captain from Dundigal has been confirmed with H1N1 and is undergoing treatment at Air Force hospital. The officer is said to be recovering.

Three die of swine flu in Hyderabad; toll rises to 10 this year

Hyderabad: Three more deaths due to swine flu have been reported in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

So far, ten persons have succumbed to the deadly disease in Telangana. Out of the three patients who died, two of the patents were being treated at Osmania Hospital and one of them died undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital.

As many as 185 people have tested positive for the deadly H1N1 virus.

Health officials here maintained that swineflu disease this year is not as virulent as it was in 2009 but high risk groups (those suffering from different serious ailments and low immunity) need to remain alert.

In 2014, 88 cases of swineflu were reported in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Last year, 11 people reportedly died of the disease.
