Three more persons have died of swine flu inIn Gujarat,taking the death toll in the state to 45. The three deaths have been reported from Surat, Banaskantha and Anand district during the last 24 hours. 35 new cases have been registered in the state, as the total number of swine flu cases has gone up to 355. New cases of the virus have been reported from several parts of the state. A central team has visited Ahmedabad civil hospital yesterday and reviewed the situation.
The Health Ministry has reviewed preparedness of the states affected with H1N1 to manage the situation. Talking to reporters in New Delhi yesterday, Health Minister J P Nadda said, health Secretary held a video conference meeting with senior health officials of states of Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh and with government of Delhi. He said, the situationwas reviewed in terms of the adequacy of medicines and personal protective equipment such as masks with the state health departments, along with number of adequately equipped and functioning isolation wards.
Mr Nadda said, his Ministry is regularly monitoring the situation and providing financial support to the affected states. He said, the situationis in control and there is no need to panic. The Health Minister said, Central teams have been sent to Telangana, Rajasthan and Gujarat to assess the situation and help them to manage the cases.
