Grisly as it may sound, but a teen had actually chopped off his left hand to cure his Internet addition.
The shocking incident occured in Nantong in Jiangsu province of China. The boy, who spends several hours everyday on the Internet, chopped off his left hand with a cleaver. The doctors had to perform an emergency surgery for over 10 hours to re-attach the amputated hand.
The 19-year-old boy did not even inform his parents about the grisly act. The cab driver who took him to the hospital informed the police, who in turn alerted his parents.
Internet addition in China has assumed alarming proportions and over 2.4 crore Chinese have already turned to web junkies. The government has already launched a massive Internet de-addiction drive in the country by organising boot camps and cure therapies in a big way.
