After claiming multiple lives in southern India, swine flu has reported claimed its first life in Punjab – the victim is said to be a 55-year-old woman who succumbed to H1N1 virus at a hospital in Amritsar on Tuesday.
Sarabjit Kaur was a resident of Sandhu Colony at Batala road in Amritsar. She was admitted to the hospital in a very critical condition on January 17, said officials at the hospital.
Dr. H.P. Singh from Escorts Fortis Hospitals revealed in a statement: “The patient was detected with swine flu and immediately put on ventilator support but her condition did not improve
In neighbouring Haryana, swine flu has taken one life in Chandigarh.
Just two days back we had reported that the deadly virus has claimed 11 lives [in total] in Telangana and one in Tamil Nadu. Officials in southern states are refuting a pandemic like condition and have attributed instances of H1N1 as seasonal.
