INDORE: One more patient on Wednesday tested positive of swine flu (H1N1 virus) triggering panic in Indore. With this the number of patients tested positive in this month has reached six out of which four people have died till now.
Health department has issued alert after first death due to swine flu in second week of the month, despite disease is spreading its tentacles. Health department do not even have budget to carry out awareness campaign for swine flu. Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) in-charge Dr GL Sodhi, said a 35-year-old woman, resident of Harda, has been tested positive with H1N1 virus. She was admitted to CHL Hospital on January 13 and her samples were sent on the same day.
Dr Sodhi further said that they have directed all the hospitals to provide immediate information about the suspected patients which will help in providing timely treatment to them.
In view of increasing deaths due to swine flu, divisional commissioner Sanjay Dubey on Tuesday had chaired an emergency meeting for handling the situation and to take initiatives to check this deadly disease. However, Dubey directed the health officials to launch a campaign for spreading awareness for the disease but the health officials expressed their helplessness as they don't have any budget for it.
According to sources, the health department doesn't have any separate budget for the purpose.
"The Divisional Commissioner has directed to place banners and posters in the city but the department has not budget for the purpose," sources added.
One of the health officials said that they will take help from the private companies to advertise for them or will take out budget from other schemes.
